Journal Quilt 2008 - Air Pockets

Element of choice: AIR
Air Pockets; 20 ways to keep you cool. 17x22" Each pocket was sewn on individually and has a grommet in the front for ventilation. Commercial cottons, hand dyes, batiks, overdyes, household screen, veggie netting grace these special pockets. Inspired by a skirt that Yvonne Porcella wore the first time that I met her in Riverside, Ca - such a trendsetter! This piece got a rejection letter for the show, but I just love it and it is a welcome addition to my portfolio.

  1. This is really, really neat. What fun it is, seeing everyone's different visualizations of the four ancient elements! Thank you for sharing yours.

  2. Love this. So much fun to look at. It will be interesting to see the JQ's that got it.

I'm happy to hear you are recovering from the surgery and back in touch.

I didn't know grommets came in colors. Where do you find them?
