Dinner at Eight Artists

Leslie Tucker Jenison and I are co-curating a special exhibit for the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach - July 22 - 25th that is a juried invitational. We call ourselves "Dinner at Eight Artists." All of the artists were asked to interpret the theme "Beneath the Surface."
From the roots that anchor a majestic tree, to a song by Kings of Leon, "Beneath the Surface" has many connotations. We look into dark water and wonder what lies beneath. We long to understand the meaning of a cryptic statement. What comes to mind when you ponder what is "Beneath the Surface?"

An announcement of the artists whose work will be in the exhibit will be posted in late March on the Dinner at Eight Artists blog. We are thrilled to report that our exhibit will be sponsored by Moore's Sewing Centers and Brother International.

This is our second endeavor together...our first being "Edges" that was a special exhibit at Festival in Long Beach in 2009 and sponsored by Quilting Arts, and then traveled onto Houston and was sponsored by the artists. There is a tremendous article about the exhibit in Quilting Arts Magazine Oct/Nov 2009 issue, pages 54-59.
You can view all of the quilts in the exhibit on the Dinner at Eight Artists blog.
