Funky Folding Houses

Funky folding houses.  Everyone made 6 houses to create a free standing 2-sided house book.  Everyone learned how to fuse using Mistyfuse and Goddess Sheets

Here is a view of the classroom from the back.  It is huge, with plenty of room to work on individual projects, a design wall that extends the length of one wall (right), 4 ironing stations and extra work tables with cutting mats on the left.  This is a super relaxing class, with fusing, free motion machine quilting, and hand sewing.

This is the back portion of the room.  We had a box lunch on Sunday, worked through lunch, so we could leave at 4pm.
Students brought their own fabric and embellishments.  It was fun to see what they brought for the class.  I felt like I got a small peek into their sewing studios.  I provided the pattern, Mistyfuse and Goddess Sheets, and National Nonwovens provided the wool blended felt #TOY002.  I use this product for the foundation and backing in all of my quilts.

Isn't this fun?

Houses are coming together!

I love the personal style of each student in this class!

So fun and dingle balls too!
Pretty creative to add a laundry line!

Zippers, buttons and trim!

Yes, she is using a glue stick for the windows and doors!  Whatever works!

Let the fabric work for you!
This is a good sampling of what everyone accomplished in this day long class.  Most people were to the point of sewing them together to create the free standing houses.
Love the cupcakes!

The trim, button and funky windows, not to mention the illustration at the bottom

Really clever to use a piece from yesterday's class - the stenciled words

A huge thank you to Stephanie Davis who really went beyond the call of duty to make this a very memorable teaching weekend in Mount Vernon, WA.  And to my house host, Opal Cocke - thank so much for opening your house to me.  I feel like I've made friends for life with these two amazing artists!
