Make It Personal...in the Studio

The studio is coming along, unpacking more and more boxes, putting things away and trying to figure out the best way to organize my fabric stash on restaurant shelving.  And there is the issue that I don't have air conditioning anymore, but I have a truck door and a double front door, so I do get that cross ventilation.  And I have a tower fan, which has helped.  I have to buy a small refrigerator, so I can bring my lunch and keep it cold, and of course have cold water to drink.
Today, I began with 2 goals; 1) Put up clothes lines on the wall behind my HandiQuilter, so that I could hang some of my work; 2) to hang some decorative and sentimental pieces on the opposite wall, in preparation for the furniture delivery tomorrow.
Three clothes lines.  I need to get the ladder from home to add another one a little higher than the top one, because the wall is so high.

This wall will be in my seating area.  The red and white polka dot couch arrives tomorrow, and end table, and a vintage treadle cabinet that I thought might make an excellent coffee bar.

Here are the Girls, hanging out on the art wall.  Scissors and keys from my dad's desk.

Heavy Metal Mouse hails over the shelves.  The bear was made by my Grandpa Earl when he was a child, and a native Californian.  The doll with the peace sign was made by joanell connolly.

The large metal flower is Kelly Rae Roberts artwork, and I think it is amazing!  Large wooden scissors, a gift from my man.  Handmade dolls by Barbara Kincaid.  Coffee cup with steam, a gift from Leslie Tucker Jenison, reminds me of our 'coffee breaks' on-line.

A sentimental journey

Things that I have collected and gifts from friends hung on the peg shelf

My Barbie that looks like me, sitting with the sailboat that my dad had in his office, and his desk bell.  Someone told me when my parents passed (within 4 months of each other), to wrap myself up in a lifetime of memories.  Today, as I was carefully taking their keepsakes out of a box, I remembered that quote, which reduced me to tears.  I am glad that I have some of their keepsakes to surround me in my art space.  They would be so thrilled for me that I found my dream studio, but I wish they could be here to share in the joy of it.
