Prayer Flags for Christmas!

Prayer Flags for Christmas!  My new favorite die cutting machine "Sizzix Big Shot Pro."  It is easy to use, and doesn't hurt my shoulders when cranking the dies through the machine.  A huge plus for me that uses a die cut machine quite frequently in my work

Just look at this simple lettering....isn't it great?  Now you can see where I am going with this.

I am going to make 3 Christmas themed prayer flags.  I cut out 3 pieces of wool blended felt (National Nonwovens TOY002) - size is 6x8

The first one, I fused blue fabric (from my own line) to the front, and now I am cutting from the back, which is easier, because you have a guide.

Green scraps of pre-Mistyfused fabrics to make a Christmas tree

The tree.  I wanted it patchworky looking.  This could be a new word for 2014.
Joy with the tree, but I feel that it needs something more to balance the piece

The star drawn free-hand with a Pentel Gel Roller for Fabric pen.  Draws like butter.

Now we have a good composition and great colors that pop out of the background

Here come the red scraps that are pre-Mistyfused

I am going to make a patchworky heart.  I drew the heart right on the fabric, to make it easier for myself, and I could see how it looked.  Does it need more fabric?  Well, yes it did, and I added more.

"love" is now backed with red wool blended felt and ready to be free motion machine quilted
"family" with a wonky house, cup and saucer on the roof.  My blue and green fabrics for the background, and green stripe for the stem, leaves and walk way, and the small cup and saucer from the text fabric.  All of the xoxo fabric is a Hoffman California Fabrics batik.

The backs to see how they were each free motion machine quilted

Wishing you and your family joy and love this Christmas!
