The Purple House - Part 10

Thank you for coming on this journey with me from start to finish on the design and making of this art quilt.  I have enjoyed the process and the comments from you, the readers of my blog.

"Make a Wish on the Purple House" 24W x 60H is my curators quilt for the upcoming exhibition "Rituals."  My art quilt is all about a ritual that my daughter and I enjoyed for a few years, when I was driving her to school in Old Towne, Orange.  There was this wonderful purple house in the midst of gray and brown houses, which we both felt was rather magical.  Everyday - as we drove by - we would say "make a wish on the purple house.'

It is for the special exhibit "Rituals" that will be shown at the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach, CA - July 26-29 and sponsored by Moore's Sewing Centers, and then to the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX - Oct 31-Nov 4th, and sponsored by Havel's Sewing
And here is the back side, so you can see all of the stitching

  2. Jamie..this is beautiful on so many levels. The artwork is exquisite and the inspiration for Make a Wish on a Purple House" adds the ultimate meaning to the work. From one mother to another, it always awes me how are children inspire us and often bring out the best in us....
